Exhibition “Turin Design”
The exhibition “Turin Design”, as a result of a deep systematic research, aims at enhancing the roots and the excellence level acquired by Design traditions in Piedmont, being related to several market sector, such as: the automotive, the most famous sector, food design (coffee, wine, chocolate etc.) representing the new frontier, up to the most consolidated fields, like sport equipments, productions from the industrial districts (water taps and household goods from the areas of Verbania, Cusio and Ossola; pens, from Settimo Torinese; textiles from Biella…) and finally tecno-design related to industrial machines and electronic equipment as well as to aerospace.
Open days to Innovation
The City and the Province of Turin represent a peculiar territory, rich in technological innovative traditions, which are both drawing back to its industrial background and also developing in progress thanks to some new initiatives: the general goal of the Open days on Innovation is to spread among common people the feeling that one can be not only a user – just knowing how things work in common life – but mainly being the protagonist, that also means paying particular attention to high training in the scientific field.
Virtuality 
Virtuality Conference is a premiere international event on Computer Graphics, Interactive Techniques, Digital Cinema, 3D Animation, Gaming and VFX. Every year, Virtuality proposes the most up-to-date discussion about cutting-edge applications of VR and Interactive Techniques in various fields, but paying particular attention to its industrial applications and to the multifaceted universe of cinema, including presentations by world-class experts of animation and visual effects. Virtuality 2006, REAL DREAMS, will continue to focus on exploring the increasingly fluid boundary between real and virtual worlds. Through lectures, meetings, tributes, exhibits, screenings and demo presentations Virtuality will reveal the new digital frontier sweeping from cinema to architecture, from automotive design to advertisement, from medicine to videogames.
Start Cup 2006 
The Second edition of Start
Cup Torino Piemonte is just started. The competition for
innovative enterprise projects, promoted by the Polytechnic and the University
of Turin, involves as well the University of East Piedmont, “Amedeo
Avocadro” , as it has been last year. Start Cup is organised by
several institutions, such as: I3P, the Incubator of Innovative Enterprises
of the Polytechnic, Che impresa l’Impresa! - a specific
section of the so-called University general function, “From
the right to education to the labour market”-, the Office
for Scientific Research and International Relations of the University
of East Piedmont.
The first term for the delivery of the “Enterprise Project” (“Idea
d’ impresa”) is the 3rd of April, while the “business plans” can
be produced until the 18th of July 2006. As far as the enterprise
project is concerned, the rewards wholly consist in services: thanks to the entrepreneurial
training, to the tutoring and to the counselling activities for the draft of
the business plan, the “winning ideas” will be able to
change into real enterprise plans and to compete for the cash-prizes, envisaged
by the second step of “Start cup”.
In addition to several special and local awards, provided by sponsors, there
also are three big cash-prizes for the first three classed business plan, whose
amount is respectively 10,000 euros for the first-classed, 7,000 euros for the
second one and 5,000 euros for the third one. The three Start Cup winners take
then part to the National
Award for Innovation , which is something like a “Champions
League” for enterprise projects, created at the university level.
